Figma Font Installer

Figma includes Google Fonts by default, but if you want to use your own fonts, you need to install them on your computer. Follow these steps to get started.

1. Install Fonts on Your Computer

To use a custom font in Figma, install it on your device:
Mac Users: Use Font Book to install and manage fonts.
Windows Users: Add font files to the Fonts folder.
Make sure it’s in the correct format:
Supported file types: .TTF (TrueType) and .OTF (OpenType)
Each font style (Regular, Bold, Italic, etc.) requires a separate file.
Tip: If you're working with a team, ensure everyone has the same font files installed to avoid missing font errors.

2. Install the Figma Font Helper

If you're using Figma in a web browser, you must install the Figma Font Helper to access fonts stored on your computer.
After installation, reload any open Figma files in your browser.
Your local fonts will appear in the font selector.
If needed, you can uninstall it anytime.
Remember: If you're using the Figma desktop app, you don’t need the Font Helper—your installed fonts will work automatically!

3. Apply Your Font in Figma

Once your fonts are installed, you can use them in Figma by following these steps:
1.
Open a Figma Design file.
2.
Select an existing text layer or create a new one.
3.
Click the font selector in the right sidebar.
4.
Open the filter dropdown and choose Installed by you to find your custom fonts.

By following these steps, you can easily install and use custom fonts in Figma, whether you're working on the desktop app or in a web browser. However, if you want a hassle-free experience, Google Fonts remain the best option for most users!
